REGIONAL GREEN, INCLUSIVE AGRIBUSINESS INVESTMENT FUND OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED
The “Regional Green, Inclusive Agribusiness Investment Fund” (GIRAF) was officially launched today (August 24, 2026).
The fund will be managed by DBM Asset Management LLC, a subsidiary of the Development Bank of Mongolia, mobilizing USD 92.6 million in joint financing from international organizations and the Government, together with USD 25.0 million in long-term financing from commercial banks, to provide the financing needed by individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and businesses operating in the agricultural sector.
In connection with this, the Development Bank of Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank signed a cooperation agreement.
Specifically, to address the many negative factors facing the livestock sector — one of the pillar sectors of Mongolia’s economy — such as pasture overstocking, unstable livestock management, and climate change, a portion of the Aimags and Soums Green Regional Development Investment Program (ASDIP), implemented through joint financing by the Government of Mongolia, international organizations, and the Asian Development Bank, will be carried out through GIRAF.
As a result, the agricultural sector will gradually move away from its traditional structure of supplying only raw materials, laying the groundwork for a new, sustainable economic structure built on value-added production, processing, and supply chains.
